If you enjoy Allendale history and are a regular visitor to this Facebook page, I have three favors to ask.
It’s now been almost 8 years since I began recovering, preserving, and sharing historic memories of Allendale. My efforts would not have been possible without you.
I am very proud of the support the Allendale community has shared. I have scanned over 100,000 individual items, which I use to support several digital projects, including this page. I have published several books on Allendale history, and my digital prints now adorn the walls of Allendale’s Borough Hall. Many thanks to our mayor, council, and administrative staff for their support.
First, if you have purchased (or plan on purchasing) my first book, Images of America: Allendale, please leave a rating and comment. Please check out the other books and eBooks I have self-published on Amazon (search using my name).
Second, over 1,000 Allendale history enthusiasts regularly visit Allendale Artworks and Artifacts. I have met and corresponded with several hundred Allendale residents, past and present, who have and continue to share artifacts and stories of growing up in Allendale. It is your enthusiasm that makes all of this possible. Please share your feelings on why learning about Allendale history is important to you, your family, and future generations. Encourage others to become part of preserving Allendale history.
Third, I need the Allendale community to "step up." I am closer to the end of my efforts than the beginning. The next borough historian needs to step up. If you want to become the next representative of Allendale history, call me to discuss. If you are a part of Allendale history with artifacts to share or stories to tell, it’s time to step up. If you teach history, but not Allendale history, it’s time to step up. Allendale history is not taught in Allendale schools. Why is that?
Are you serious about supporting Allendale history? Want to show your support for an upcoming historical event? Next year, 2025, is the 100th anniversary of the 1925 dedication of Memorial Park and the Soldiers and Sailors monument (corner of Brookside Avenue and Park Avenue). Reach out to the mayor and council about this. Tell them how important it is to celebrate Allendale residents who have served and sacrificed.
Your support keeps Allendale history, your memories, and your friends and family of yesteryear alive.
If you have history to share, please feel free to contact me at (201)-315-4943 / Fred@FamilyTechnology.com. My business office, Family Technology, is located at 70 West Allendale Ave, Suite C (across from the AB&G). Stop by!
Happy Holidays, and thank you for supporting Allendale history.
